Common Law Admission Test Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following academic qualifications to be eligible for CLAT 2025:
Undergraduate (UG) Program:
- Class 12 or Equivalent Examination:
Candidates must have passed the final examination of Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board or institution. Examples include:- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi
- Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi
- State Boards of Secondary Education
- National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- Minimum Marks Requirement:
- General/Unreserved/OBC: At least 45% aggregate marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
- SC/ST Categories: At least 40% aggregate marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
Postgraduate (PG) Program:
- LLB or Equivalent Degree:
Candidates must hold a 3-year or 5-year LLB degree from a recognized university or institution. - Minimum Marks Requirement:
- General/Unreserved/OBC: At least 50% aggregate marks in LLB or equivalent degree.
- SC/ST Categories: At least 45% aggregate marks in LLB or equivalent degree.
Year of Passing Qualifying Examination
- UG Program: Candidates appearing for their Class 12 examination in 2025 are eligible to apply for CLAT 2025. However, they must submit proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.
- PG Program: Candidates appearing for their final LLB examination in 2025 are eligible to apply for CLAT 2025 but must provide proof of passing at the time of admission.
Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT 2025 for both UG and PG programs.
Number of Attempts
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for CLAT. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they meet the eligibility criteria.
State of Eligibility
The State of Eligibility is determined by the location where the candidate has passed their Class 12 (for UG) or LLB (for PG) examination, regardless of their place of residence.
- For candidates appearing for their qualifying examination from an international board, the State of Eligibility corresponds to their permanent address in India, as mentioned in their passport.
