University of kerala Scholarship

Kerala University offers a range of scholarships to support students with financial need and academic excellence. These scholarships include assistance for undergraduate, postgraduate, and special cases, ensuring that deserving students can pursue their education without financial constraints.

1. Student's Aid Fund Scholarship

This scholarship aims to assist students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. To qualify for this scholarship:

  • The student’s family income must be INR 25,000 annually.
  • The applicant needs to provide an Income Certificate from the village officer for the working parent.

2. Student’s Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (SGPAIS)

The SGPAIS provides financial support in case of accidents:

  • It covers medical expenses up to INR 25,000.
  • A death claim of up to INR 1,00,000 is also provided.
  • The premium for the insurance scheme is INR 25 per student.

3. Kerala University Merit Scholarships

Kerala University rewards academic excellence through Merit Scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Students who score 55% or more in the HSE, VHSE, CBSE, or ISC exams taken before admission to the University.
  • These scholarships are awarded for a period of three years, only for students who pass the exams on their first attempt.

The scholarship amount is INR 2,500 per annum for 188 students across various subjects. The subject-wise distribution is as follows:

Postgraduate Scholarships


For postgraduate students, Kerala University also offers University Merit Scholarships to those who have obtained a First Class Bachelor's Degree in the University Examinations prior to the scholarship award. In cases where eligible candidates are unavailable from the immediately preceding examination, candidates with a first-class result from previous examinations may also be considered.

The scholarship for postgraduate students is INR 3,000 per annum, given to 169 students for two years.
