A college offer can look affordable when you read only the tuition line. Before paying for an agriculture programme, put the whole first-year commitment on one page—and ask when each amount becomes due.

This checklist is for families comparing real offers. It provides no universal fee estimate and does not recommend borrowing. Use the current, written fee schedule for the exact degree, campus, mode and admission category.

First, make sure you are comparing the same thing

Write the full programme and campus name above each quotation. Mark the academic session, category and whether accommodation is included. If a document says only “annual package”, ask what the package contains.

Official institutions often publish separate programme documents. The KAU prospectus directory, for example, lists different undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses. Do not assume a figure taken from one document applies to another course or mode.

Ask for these cost lines separately

A comparison worksheet for written quotations; these are questions, not charges every college necessarily imposes.
Cost lineWhat to clarify
Academic feesTuition, admission charges and whether listed academic components are annual, semester-wise or one-time.
Residence and mealsHostel availability, room type, mess billing and the period covered.
DepositsPurpose, return conditions and whether a deposit is included in the headline quote.
Other stated requirementsExamination, practical, field-visit, transport or equipment items that the institution says apply.
Personal and travel costsYour family's own estimate for travel, communications and routine living expenses.

Give each line one of three labels: confirmed in writing, estimated by us, or not yet answered. A blank cell should remain visibly unanswered until someone clarifies it.

Separate affordability from payment timing

A family may be comfortable with a total annual amount yet struggle if a large part is due before moving to campus. Create a simple calendar of payment dates and expected household cash availability.

Keep one-time and recurring costs apart. Then ask which amounts could change in later years and where that rule is documented. Do not assume that a first-year quotation establishes an unchanged cost for the entire degree.

If assistance is mentioned, verify whether it is a confirmed award or only a possible application. Prepare the budget without treating an unapproved concession as money already available.

Get the unanswered terms into writing

  • What happens if the expected hostel room is unavailable?
  • Which charges are included in the quoted amount and which are additional?
  • What are the applicable cancellation, withdrawal and refund terms, including dates and deductions?
  • Which account or payment process is authorised by the institution?
  • What remains conditional before the student's admission is confirmed?

Keep the reply with the quotation and receipt. This checklist does not interpret legal refund rights; ask the institution for its applicable published policy and seek appropriate advice if a dispute arises.

Finish with a decision the family can explain

Compare the total, timing and unresolved questions alongside academic fit. A lower quoted tuition amount does not automatically make an option cheaper overall, and a higher cost does not prove better learning.

Use a simple sentence: “This option fits our agreed budget under these stated assumptions, and we still need these two answers.” That keeps the decision practical and makes a counselling conversation easier.

For an initial enquiry, share programme names and a budget range. You can discuss the comparison without sending bank statements or identity-document scans.

Quick questions

Kya tuition fee aur total cost same hain?

Zaroori nahi. Quotation mein included aur extra items clearly check karein.

Kya expected scholarship ko budget se minus kar dein?

Confirmed award aur possible application ko alag rakhein. Unapproved support par payment plan depend na karein.

College comparison mein pehla question kya ho?

Exact course, campus, category aur written total first-year cost confirm karein.

Have two college quotations and need a clearer comparison?

Start with the programme names, preferred state and your comfortable annual budget range. Ask MeriShiksha which charges and assumptions still need written confirmation.

Ask for agriculture course guidance

MeriShiksha course guidance is separate from the institution's application and selection process. Sending an enquiry does not confirm admission.
