The nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan was launched by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Taraori in Karnal, Haryana, on 22 October 2026. According to ICAR's official launch report, village-level awareness activities are planned through 30 November 2026.

What the campaign focuses on

The report highlights Soil Health Card-based nutrient decisions, crop rotation and avoiding crop-residue burning. Scientists, agricultural universities and extension institutions have been asked to support village discussions.

These are the announced campaign priorities. This news report does not treat statements about future yield or cost improvements as measured outcomes.

What farmers and students can check locally

The national announcement alone does not confirm the date or venue of a meeting in a particular village. Ask your local KVK or agriculture department for the relevant activity schedule before travelling.

  • Check who is organising the local session and whether it is intended for your participant group.
  • If bringing a soil report, keep the sample date and field identity available for the discussion.
  • Write down the questions you need answered, instead of arriving with an assumed fertiliser recommendation.
  • Students planning observations or interviews should agree the assignment with their supervisor and obtain participants' permission.

An awareness campaign is not an automatic benefit entitlement

Do not infer a grant, free product, training certificate or admission opportunity from a campaign headline. If an associated activity offers something specific, its own official terms should explain eligibility and delivery.

For technical questions, take advice that fits the crop, location and actual test results. A general awareness message cannot substitute for an assessment of an individual field.
